Message from the President of the LI Congress of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology

From the indication of our name to assume the Presidency of the LI Congress of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology, during the General Ordinary Assembly held on the XLIX Congress in 1993, we mobilazed all of our efforts in order to make the top event of the Brazilian Cardiology come up to the expectations, by offering master scientific programs and wide opportunities of confraternization.

We started up our mandate by composing an Organizing Commission which colaboration was very much considered to execute this event successfully. And the period of September, 3 to 6 was chosen for the next Congress, according to the statutory determinations.

Riocentro Congress Pavillion, with an area around 23,000 square metres, was the first contract signed. Its dimension is prepared to receive 6,000 members of the Congress within a comfortable environment with a large area for parallel expositions.

SBC Events Center, located in Rio de Janeiro, colaborated in the various phases of the Congress execution intensively by negotiating sponsorship, selecting third party services, attending the national and international guests besides all members of the Congress.

SBC Board shared very closely all the execution phases through several convocations for administrative meetings and providing an unestimated support. We assure that it would have been much harder to accomplish this event without their coordination.

The scientific program got to meet its delivering schedule due to an exhaustive work of the Scientific Commitee, which promoted major scientifc themes and shared them with around 400 national guests and 20 international ones, Representatives from the several areas of Cardiological Science.

We counted on also, the participation of professionals from nursing, psychology, nutrition, and phisioterapy areas with an updated and very attractive scientific program.

In order to better accomodate the coleagues needs at Riocentro, a large structure of services was offered during the whole Congress such as: Bank, Air Tickets and Hotel Reservations Center, Secretary Room and Slide Desk, Restaurants and Coffee Shops, Mail Room, Local, National and International communication system, Baggage-Room with Lost & Found sector, Message Desk, Security, Medical Assistance and Heliport.

We made every of our efforts to transform this event into a mark of a new administrative and scientific period of time of our Congresses.
